Martin Foreman’s script of the tragedy A Pound of Flesh combines original text from The Merchant of Venice with lines and imagery in Shakespeare’s style and vocabulary and occasional lines brought in from other of his works. 

The fifty-minute production premiering at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe comprises eleven scenes and requires five actors; it is an abbreviated version of a yet to be produced 60-65 minute play with the same number of scenes and actors. That version, with or without the original cast, is available for touring or licence to other companies.

The script of a 90-100 minute version, with a larger cast and characters such as Jessica and Gratiano given more scope than in The Merchant, will be available by the end of 2025.
