Elsa Booij is a French-Dutch actress and director. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts from the Université Lumière Lyon 2 and completed her final year as part of an exchange programme at the University of Waterloo in Canada, where she performed in English for the first time. She also holds a diploma in Screen Acting from the prestigious Cours Florent in Paris.
Eight months ago, Elsa left Paris behind and settled in Edinburgh (mainly for the weather) to further pursue her artistic career. Soon after, she directed Battery by Zoë Maunder, an absurdist play reflecting her strong interest in the genre.
A lifelong lover of music, singing, theatre, musical theatre, and film, Elsa is a well-rounded artist with experience both on stage and in front of the camera. She is delighted to be taking part in Transfers, which marks her exciting debut at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Jed Bury was born in Dunblane and is now based in Edinburgh. He is a self-represented actor and a graduate of Acting & English from Edinburgh Napier University. After starting out in Borders Youth Theatre and Lyceum Youth Theatre, Jed has gone on to work on several projects across screen and stage. Recent productions include Gordon in Dangerous Corner, Harris in Tartan Tat, Ethan in Worms and Boone in The Paranormal Clause.
Jed also appears in another Fringe show this year with the Long Face Theatre Company: Holly Street runs (odd dates only) 3rd to 23rd August in the same venue as Transfers at 10.45 am.
Millie Deere is a recent graduate who dedicated her time to performing in a diverse range of productions with the Oxford University Drama Society. Memorable roles included Joanna in Noel Coward’s Present Laughter and Jess in Dennis Kelly’s Love and Money. While this is her first time performing in the Fringe – hindered originally by Covid – Millie did her dissertation on the Edinburgh Fringe and has visited year after year. As well as an actress, she is a singer and writer, currently shooting her first short film and releasing some new music on Spotify this Autumn. She also enjoys interviewing actors and writing features and reviews on theatre and film.
Millie also appears as Portia in Arbery Theatre’s A Pound of Flesh immediately before Transfers.
Ciara Hughes is an actress and playwright returning to the business after a number of years. After graduating from the Gaiety School of Acting she honed her craft at Screen Project Dublin under award-winning director Vinny Murphy and in the Actors Studio at the Focus theatre Dublin under Tim McDonald, specialising in the practices of Konstantin Stanislavsky. She completed an MA in Theatre in 2015 at Dublin City University.
Ciara has numerous theatre performances under her belt, including a one woman show, that she wrote, produced and performed in, as part of the Edinburgh Fringe. She has also appeared in various short films and television for TG4. More recently she was involved with Tron 100, a collaborative in Tron Theatre Glasgow, lead by creative Lisa Nicoll. Ciara has just finished writing her first full length play. She is excited to be returning to the Fringe with Arbery Theatre.
Kirsten Maguire is an experienced Dunbar-based actor who started her career with at the Edinburgh Fringe with Theatre Alba. She is delighted to be back at the Fringe working with Arbery for the first time in Transfers. As well as acting on stage, she is also a producer with Battery Theatre, the company she set up which specialises in site-specific original work.
Kirsten has also appeared in numerous short films and works as a voiceover artist narrating audio books and acting in audio plays.
Spotlight: Kirsten Maguire
David Reynolds was was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria and moved to Edinburgh with his part-Scots family as a child. He is currently studying acting at the Granton campus of Edinburgh College. He has appeared in two productions from Leitheatre (Sunset Song and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) and can be seen in the Netflix production of One Day. Away from the stage he enjoys hiking and camping and keeping up-to-date with movies. He is excited to have contributed to and be appearing in Transfers, his first Fringe production.
Michael Robert-Brown is best known for his comic performances, as well as being a versatile character actor whose work ranges from Ibsen and Chekhov to D.C. Jackson and Rose Lewenstein. Graduating from Edinburgh Napier University with a first class Honours degree in Stage and Screen acting in 2024, his first love has always been Shakespeare.
By day, Michael can be found leading History and Ghost Walks for Mercat Tours on and below Edinburgh’s Old Town.
This is Michael’s third collaboration with Arbery Theatre. In addition to appearing in and directing this cast-devised play, he can be seen as the Doge and other parts in Arbery Theatre’s A Pound of Flesh immediately before Transfers.

Damien Smith is a Glasgow-born actor/musician who graduated from Glasgow Kelvin College with a HND in Musical Theatre in 2022. His previous work includes Scare Actor and Performer at Alton Towers Resort and the Edinburgh Dungeon and he is currently a storyteller at The Real Mary King’s Close.
Damien has been involved in many productions over the years, most recently as Pugsley in The Addams Family with Stage Door Entertainment and St Jimmy in American Idiot with Never Ending Theatre. Damien will also be appearing at mediaeval festivals this summer in Nottingham: A Robin Hood Musical as Prince John and understudying Will/Robin.
This will be Damien’s second Fringe production since Winging It: The Musical in 2023. He is currently working on his music. writing, recording and releasing a collection of four songs to be featured on an EP and eventually a full album.
Martin Foreman based the concept of Transfers on Arthur Schnitzler’s controversial play La Ronde and wrote the script with the characters and situations created by the actors in workshops and rehearsals.
Martin has previously written and directed short and full-length plays that feature classic tales and historical figures as well as modern comedies and dystopias. These include a version of Ben Jonson’s Volpone and the 2,000-year old Satyricon; the lives of Giacomo Casanova and Frederick Rolfe (aka Baron Corvo); Thomas Mann’s Tadzio from Death in Venice; Delivery!, The Report and Taiwan. His last production as director was J B Priestley’s Dangerous Corner.
Martin also wrote (with William Shakespeare) A Pound of Flesh – a reimagined version of The Merchant of Venice – playing immediately before Transfers.

Dug Campbell (sound) is a composer and sound designer for film, television, and theatre, specialising in evocative, cinematic soundscapes and music that enhance storytelling. With a Master’s in Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music, he creates original compositions and atmospheric designs, collaborating closely with directors to bring productions to life. His work spans classical theatre to contemporary drama.

Freya Game (lighting) is an early career lighting designer and technician based in Edinburgh. She is a former president of Bedlam Theatre and works as a technician at Summerhall during the Fringe. She is set to graduate from the University of Edinburgh in July 2025.
